doyle lane potteryMy friend Gerard O'Brien of ReForm gallery in Los Angeles introduced me to the work of Doyle Lane late one night at his gallery after an opening. As we were sitting around a large table having a few cocktails and maybe a smoke, he snuck off and pulled a few pots out of some secret hiding spot in his back office, acting like he was showing me his secret stash, which he was. He couldn't keep the secret, and either could I, because I immediately bought 3 or 4 pieces from him that night. I've only been able to find 3 or 4 more pots over the years (they have to be a different glaze and size than ones I already have, but still, they are very hard to find). They rarely, if ever, show up on the East Coast which makes it even harder. Also, once you find one you, don't want to sell it. They are like little jewels....
